Home Depot plans ‘neighborhood MVP’ promotion

Home Dept has announced a promotion, in conjunction with the retailer’s sponsorship of the National Football League, to award NFL players who “are making a positive impact in their local communities through charitable programs and contributions.”

Home Depot will reward 17 players, one for each week of the regular season. Winners will be allowed to choose a football field to refurbish or a new playground site in their respective cities. Players also will be able to choose a local charity to receive a donation.

Winning players will work with representatives from the non-profit group “KaBoom!”, which aims to create “a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.” Volunteers from Home Depot also will help in building playgrounds and refurbishing football fields.

At the end of the season, Home Depot will choose an “MVP of the Year,” who will be recognized during the Super Bowl and who will receive a $25,000 donation to the charity of his choice.

The national MVP will be selected through consumer voting and by a panel of judges. Fans will be able to vote online at www.homedepot.com/NFL starting on Nov. 22.
