Johns Manville's polyiso product line gets an update
Johns Manville is unveiling the next generation of its polyisocyanurate product line, which will be known in home improvement circles as ENRGY 3.E.
The main thing setting this new insulation product apart from its predecessor is its ability to meet fire tests and codes without any added halogenated flame retardants. In a word, it's inherently fire-resistant.
To get to that point, Johns Manville added a reactive polymer modifier to boost the foam's cell structure.
“Our research shows there is a growing need in the market for an innovative roofing insulation product that maintains all of the positive attributes of polyiso, but contains no added halogenated FRs,” said Michael Cusick, portfolio manager, Boards and Insulation. “The lack of halogenated flame retardants also demonstrates JM’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.”
Johns Manville's ENRGY 3 will continue to be available to roofing contractors who aren't working with restrictions on halogen flame retardants. Both products boast comparable performance and R-value.
