Kohler workers pass new contract
Union members at the Sheboygan, Wis., Kohler plant voted in favor of the company’s proposed labor contract Sunday after four months of negotiations, according to WBAY.com.
According to the article, 62% of UAW Local 833 members voted to pass the contract, which included a five-year wage freeze, a flexible work force, a two-tier wage structure and a $1,000 signing bonus.
Union officials were disappointed with the vote. Earlier in the negotiations, members had voted in favor of a strike, and last week union members staged an informational picket as a show of solidarity with the negotiation committee.
