Lowe’s recalls window blinds

Lowe’s has issued a voluntary recall of about 140,000 units of its “Basic Blindz” window blinds due to a strangulation hazard.

No injuries have been reported, but the blinds have a pull cord that is looped, posing a strangulation hazard to young children, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The blinds were imported by Springs Window Fashions of Middleton, Wis., and manufactured in China.

The recall involves two-inch “Natural Faux Wood Plantation Blinds.” The units were sold in Lowe’s stores from March 2007 through July 2007 for between $24 and $40.
