Montgomery Level gains utility patent

North Charleston- based Montgomery Level Co. announced it has been awarded a utility patent for its slope level design. The patent protects the company’s unique vial design to measure slope and pitch for the term of 20 years, and unlike a design patent, protects the process or functionality of the design.

“Getting this patent secures my product and gives us recognition that it is an original idea,” said Matthew Montgomery, company president and designer of the Montgomery slope level.

The company currently has additional patents pending on several of its new designs. Montgomery Level Co. was founded in 2005 to develop, manufacture and market the first slope level.
