Saint-Gobain moves a production unit from China to New York
Buffalo Business First has reported that Saint-Gobain Adfors earlier this month began making in New York drywall tape that it used to make in China.
The Albion, N.Y., facility is Saint-Gobain's North American headquarters. The newspaper reported that the cause of the shift in location was a need to better control aesthetics and packaging, which are important purchase factors in the Japanese market, the destination of the products.
The need for quality control in these areas led to the unusual scenario of a company moving manufacturing from Changzhou, China, to Albion, N.Y, to better serve the Japanese market.
