Shoplifter pulls knife on Lowe’s employee

Aman suspected of shoplifting coils of copper wire from a Salisbury, N.C., Lowe’s store was able to escape by pulling a knife on a sales associate, according to an article in the Salisbury Post.

During the incident, which took place Oct. 7, the suspect placed coils of copper and other metals into a storage bin in his shopping cart. He then walked into the garden center and headed toward the exit, bypassing the cashier. When a Lowe’s employee asked to see a receipt -- twice -- the man ignored him. On the third request, the suspect pulled out a knife and then walked to a minivan parked near the entrance to the garden center.

Awoman got out of the vehicle and helped load the metal wire in the back of the van, according to the newspaper report. The two then drove away.

The employee was able to record the license plate number, and Salisbury police are investigating.
