Trex reports net income of $6.7 million for Q3

Trex, maker of decking, railing, fencing and trim products, reported net income of $6.7 million for the third quarter, compared to a net loss of $41.2 million for the same period last year.

The Winchester, Va.-based company saw net sales for the third quarter of $85.4 million, up 33 percent from $64.0 million for the third quarter of 2007.

According to CEO Ronald W. Kaplan, operational improvements and cost containment led to higher gross margins for the company.
