Craftsman's lawn and garden product demo day

Craftsman hosted a lawn and garden product demo day in New York City on Nov. 15. The Sears-owned brand rented out a converted garage and events space on 18th Street in Manhattan.

One of the stars of the show was the new-for-spring CTX9000 Premium Tractor. This 30 horsepower model showed off its Advanced Tracking Control system over a short obstacle course. The MSRP starts at about $3,000.

Among the new features of the brand's fiberglass stick tool line are mid-handle grips, serrated blades to better penetrate the soil and a "Power Step" on all shovels, to give the user's foot a bigger surface for more digging power.

The Speed Start gas line trimmer gives users options to get the engine going. They can insert a drill (equipped with a special starter bit sold separately) here to turn on the machine. Or, they can pull start it with a cord.

One of the features of the Craftsman 21-in. single-stage snow thrower is a two-way remote chute control joystick that allows for 190-degree rotation to change direction of snow discharge without reaching down.

Among the features of the new Craftsman mowers: EZ Push Button Start for mowers and garden tractors with Turn Tight Technology and a turning radius of as little as 6 ins.
