A new Handy Hardware hosts market in San Antonio

Thirteen Honda all-terrain-vehicles were lined up and given away as part of the vendor-supported "Who Needs Roads" Sweepstakes.

Chuck Preston of Wild Game Innovations demonstrated the proper handling of an unloaded Barnett crossbow on the show floor.

Advertised as a "Savings Safari," the 2013 Handy Hardware Fall Market was the first Handy show since Littlejohn bought the co-op out of bankruptcy.

New products on the floor included the Valspar Garage Floor Coating system.

Interim CEO Doug Miller said his priority in San Antonio was to listen to dealers and build relationships with vendors.

Handy’s “Breakfast Specials” included a Poulan Wild Thing chain saw with an 18-in. guide bar.

Houston-based Handy Hardware Wholesale’s first show under the ownership of Greenwich, Conn.-based private investment firm Littlejohn & Co. -- and the first under the watch of interim CEO Doug Miller -- took place here Aug. 15-17. The show still had a lot in common with previous markets, including attractive giveaways (13 Honda ATVs) and a Saturday morning "breakfast specials" sale event that attracted some 500 dealers.
