The massive, international lawn and garden show, known as spoga+gafa, drew to a close Sept. 6 in Cologne, Germany. The Koelnmesse trade fair attracted some 36,300 trade visitors from 106 countries.

“Time to Grow” was the theme of spoga+gafa 2011, organized by Koelnmesse. It "was the appropriate motto for this outstanding trade fair," said Koelnmesse VP Metin Ergül. The fair will be back in 2012.

Translated into English, spoga+gafa means sports/leisure and garden. Pools and pool supplies were well represented in Cologne.

Germany is known for its beer. Floating beer bottle holders? Not so much.

Planters made in Germany were on display. Including German companies, spoga+gofa attracted 1,774 suppliers from 57 countries.

Stanley was one of the major international brands on display at spoga+gafa. Others include MTD/Wolf-Garten, Weber-Stephen, Freund Victoria and Neudorff.
