The 40-year-old Siding World has locations in 17 markets in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

One of the biggest names in roofing has acquired a company whose first name is “Siding.”

Beloit, Wisconsin-based building products distributor ABC Supply Co. acquired the assets of Siding World, a distributor of siding and other exterior building products including roofing, windows, doors, decking and gutters. 

The 40-year old Siding World has locations in 17 markets in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

US LBM Holdings has acquired Lumber Specialties of Dyersville, Iowa, a company described as the largest independent manufacturer of structural building components in the Midwest. 

US LBM bought the company from majority shareholders Carl Schoenhard, Bob Lex and Terry Bahl. Dennis Westhoff will become president of Lumber Specialties, managing the business with Bob Lex, Terry Bahl and their existing team.

Scottsdale, Arizona-based Taylor Morrison Home Corporation has agreed on behalf of its subsidiary to sell Monarch Corporation, its Canadian business, to an affiliate of Mattamy Homes Limited.

Taylor Morrison said that the proceeds will be used for "general corporate purposes," especially insofar as it invests further in its U.S. operations.

Husqvarna Professional Products Inc. -- a division of Husqvarna Group and TEC International -- has sold its Bluebird International operations to TEC International.

"The decision to sell Bluebird International is part of the Husqvarna Group's strategic plan, a strategy that seeks to reduce operational complexity, improve efficiency and give additional focus to our end customers (consumers and professionals) and our core brands," said Jeff Dewosky, VP-general manager, North America, Husqvarna.

In a move that's partially a response to its recent acquisition of Indesit Company, Whirlpool Corporation has made some changes to its leadership ranks in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region).

Whirlpool EMEA's president, Esther Berrozpe, will take over the company's integrated European business -- the combined operations of Whirlpool and Indesit -- beginning Jan. 1. 

Additionally, Marco Milani has announced his plans to step down from his position as Indesit's CEO, effective Dec. 31.

A subsidiary of Universal Forest Products, Inc. has acquired an 80% interest in certain assets of Packnet, Ltd., an industrial packaging and services supplier headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota.

The deal includes the option to purchase the remaining 20% of interest in three years. Packnet owner and CEO Mike Nyberg will remain in place at the head of the operation.

UFP Western Division, a subsidiary of Universal Forest Products, Inc. has completed its acquisition of certain assets of Bigs Packaging and Lumber, LLC, an industrial wood and packaging solutions supplier.

Dallas, Texas-based Bigs was founded in 2011 and is already at an annual sales pace of $50 million.

CatchMark Timber Trust has purchased the Beauregard properties, approximately 21,300 acres of timberlands in Southwest Louisiana, from Hancock Natural Resource Group.

The transaction, which came at a price tag of $38.5 million, officially closed Oct. 30.

It includes about 947,000 tons of merchantable timber inventory, the addition of about 90,000 to 100,000 tons per year to CatchMark's harvest volumes, and a diversified product mix composed of 76% convertible pine upland acres and 65% sawtimber by tons.

The Toro Company has agreed to acquire the BOSS professional snow and ice management business of Northern Star Industries, Inc. for $227 million.

According to Toro chairman and CEO Michael Hoffman, the deal strengthens Toro's stake in the professional contractor market owing to BOSS's high-quality equipment and service.

Beacon Roofing Supply has completed its acquisition of Dallas-based Wholesale Roofing Supply, a distributor of residential roofing materials.

With projected sales of about $34 million in 2014, WRS maintains a nine-acre facility in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie, serving the Dallas and Fort Worth areas.

WRS President Rick McLaughlin will remain onboard as leader of the unit after the transition is completed.

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company has acquired Fafard and Brothers via its indirect subsidiary, Scotts Canada.

Quebec-based Fafard is a producer of peat moss and high-performance growing media products, such as peat-based and bark-based mixes, composts and premium soils. It also distributes various fertilizers, mulch and grass seed products.

Builders FirstSource, Inc. has completed its acquisition of Trim Tech of Austin, Inc., effective Oct. 1, 2014.

Hutto, Texas-based Trim Tech is a turn-key supplier of custom cabinets, interior and exterior doors, stair parts, and custom millwork and molding. It netted approximately $14 million in revenues in 2013.

Christopher Cook has been elected as the newest member of Tile Shop Holdings' board of directors, effective Sept. 22, 2014.

"Chris is a great addition to The Tile Shop's board of directors," said chairman William Watts. "His experience and leadership in establishing and growing a successful retail business will be a great asset as The Tile Shop continues to expand."

Cook is a founder of Texas-based mattress retailer Sleep Experts, where he served as CEO from 2004 until April of this year, when it was acquired by Mattress Firm.

El Segundo, California-based Henry Company acquired West Development Group, based in LaGrange, Ohio, which specializes in silicone and spray polyurethane foam roofing technologies for commercial and residential applications. 

The strategic acquisition of WDG reinforces Henry’s core business of Building Envelope Systems and enhances its ability to deliver custom solutions for the benefit of the owner, occupant and environment, the company said.

Electrolux agreed to acquire the appliances business of General Electric for a cash consideration of $3.3 billion.

The announcement was made early Monday morning. 

According to Electrolux, the deal enhances Electrolux’s position as a global player in home appliances, offering an opportunity to invest in innovation and growth, and is a particularly attractive strategic fit in North America.

Elkhart, Indiana based Patrick Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of component products and a distributor of building products, has inked a deal with PolyDyn3, LLC.

PolyDyn3, which is also based in Elkhart, is a custom fabricator of simulated wood and stone products for recreational vehicles. It expects annual revenues of approximately $2.5 million.

WD-40 Company has completed the acquisition of GT85 Limited, a U.K.-based supplier of multi-purpose maintenance products.

Wisconsin-based Briggs & Stratton Corporation will be acquiring light tower company Allmand Bros. within the month, the company announced Thursday.

The projected cost of purchasing the Nebraska-based company is $62 million, though the number may change. Allmand Brothers brings in $80 million in sales every year from its light towers, arrow boards and industrial heating products.

Kodiak Building Partners purchased substantially all the assets of AO, Inc., a Dallas based fabricator and distributor of doors, frames and hardware to commercial contractors for the office build-out market.

The move brings Denver, Colorado-based Kodiak deeper into Texas, and follows acquisitions of Gulf & Basco and Factory Builder Stores.
