Boise, Idaho-based BMC launched a brand extension called BMC Design, aimed at boosting service for existing customers and appealing to homeowners, designers and architects. 

BMC describes the new service as “elevated customer service, additional support and a sophisticated experience that builders can share with their buyers as a valuable project-development tool.”

The 2013 ProDealer Industry Summit slated for Nashville Oct. 23-25 will include a panel presentation on the business of components. 

A panel of pro dealers will share thoughts on best practices that govern truss and other component operations. 

Assembled on the panel are Chuck Bankston, president of Bankston Lumber, Barnesville, Ga.; Peter Alexander, CEO of BMC, Boise, Idaho; and Dale Carlson, president of Lyman Lumber, Excelsior, Minn.

The Component business presentation is set for Oct. 25, at 11:00 a.m.

No matter how you slice them, the numbers of the HCN Top 300 Industry Scoreboard reflect the rising housing market, increased spending on the home and an easy comparison with the previous year's performance.

Of the leading 300 home channel retailers, 277 show positive sales in the most recently completed finished fiscal year, and 12 show declines. Eleven others are listed as flat.

The award criteria

The HCN Pro Dealer of the Year Award is presented annually to a lumber and building material dealer based on three main criteria: high performance, innovation and corporate behavior that reflects the values of the LBM industry.

Bolstered by rising revenues and a successful, ongoing turnaround effort, Boise, Idaho-based BMC has been named the 2012 Pro Dealer of the Year by Home Channel News.

BMC will accept the 2012 Pro Dealer of the Year award during the Oct. 24 to 26 ProDealer Industry Summit in Savannah, Ga. The event is hosted jointly by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association and Home Channel News.

Boise, Idaho-based BMC is rolling out a suite of enterprise mobile apps called “BMC 2 Go” that will transform sales and operations business processes, making employees more mobile, productive and effective through high-value Apple iPhone and iPad applications.

Boston-based tech firm Apperian partnered with BMC to provide its Enterprise App Services Environment (EASE) as the iOS app management platform to deploy and manage mobile applications for its nationwide network of sales and operations personnel.

The second annual BMC National Sales Meeting was an all-hands-on-deck affair for the Boise, Idaho-based pro dealer's sales team and branch operations managers. The Jan. 9 to 12 event also had 140 vendor companies represented, along with about 200 customers.

San Antonio — The layoffs, bankruptcies, pay cuts and long hours that have cast a pall over the industry for the last several years were pushed aside for three days last month as LBM executives gathered here to greet old friends, catch up on gossip, and maybe learn a thing or two about how to run a better business. The 2011 ProDealer Industry Summit, co-sponsored by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) and Home Channel News, hosted 100-plus pro dealers and LBM distributors from more than 65 companies Oct. 26 to 28.

Just one day after announcing the opening of a distribution center in Denver, BMC is at it again -- this time with a new lumberyard in Houston.

BMC announced the opening of the Houston yard today, describing it as a boost to its Greater Houston capacity, which now extends to a 100-mile delivery radius.

Boise, Idaho-based BMC rallied its sales force during the company's National Sales Meeting in Las Vegas Feb. 8-10.

During the meeting, BMC CEO Peter Alexander and the executive team detailed the company’s strategy to their entire sales and management group. The event also featured a Vendor Showcase and Product Education day with more than 40 exhibits from the industry’s leading suppliers.

BMC has opened an additional yard in north Houston. The new lumber and building materials facility will augment BMC’s existing lumber business presently located in Rosenberg, Texas, southwest of Houston, the company said.

“Our Houston market, already one of the strongest in the nation and growing, will be supported with the opening of this facility,” said Peter Alexander, BMC CEO.

BMC, the Boise, Idaho-based pro dealer, has announced an amendment to its senior secured credit facility with Wells Fargo Capital Finance, the company’s working capital lender. The new agreement lowers the rates and fees payable under the facility and increases the company’s borrowing capacity to the full $50 million amount available.

BMC has had no cash borrowings under the facility since it was put in place on Jan. 4, 2010, and anticipates none in the coming year.
