Wilt has a long career in human resources, with a background in succession planning, organizational development, employee relations and benefits. He also has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing and distribution, especially in terms of recruitment, employee engagement and mergers and acquisitions.

US LBM Holdings acquired K-I Lumber & Building Materials of Louisville, Kentucky, bringing  the US LBM footprint to 90 locations across 14 states.

The move pushes the number of US LBM divisions 15, and brings into the fold a territory with which US LBM CEO L.T. Gibson is familiar – Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Phoenix, Arizona-based building products distributor Capital Lumber is expanding its Denver and Salt Lake City facilities to make room for expanded product lines.

The Denver location will get 3,000 additional sq. ft. of covered storage in the form of a new cantileve-rack-supported shed.

Meanwhile, Capital is converting its warehouse in Salt Lake City to narrow isle racking for an added 720 pallet positions and 12,120 lineal feet of cantilever racking.

Capital was founded in 1948 and currently maintains eight regional distribution facilities focused in the West.

Leeds, Alabama-based Marvin’s Building Materials and Home Centers is adding to its fleet of mid-sized home centers that serve the Southern home builder and the homeowner.

The store in Ozark, Alabama, is currently under construction and is expected to open in the spring of 2015. When completed, the Alabama chain will operate 28 stores. The store will feature a 30,000-sq.-ft. home center in addition to an attached lawn and garden center and drive-through lumberyard.

Sean Fogarty is stepping into the role of president of the West Coast Lumber & Building Material Association.

Fogarty is VP of Osborne Lumber in Newark, California, where he represents the third generation of the family business that opened in 1950. 

During the organization’s annul convention last week in Indian Wells, California, Fogarty encouraged the industry to stick together and stay involved.

St. Louis-based Huttig Building Products hired Bob Kern Sr. as the new territory manager to cover southern New Jersey from the Huttig Wilkes-Barre branch in Pennsylvania. 

Kern has more than 20 years of experience in the building materials industry. He started his career with Peter Lumber Company in Pleasantville, New Jersey, where he was the operations manager for many years. Most recently, Kern was territory manager with Milliken Millwork.

Pro-sales lumber and building materials dealer TW Perry has opened the doors to its newly expanded Springfield store and office space, which now boasts a new showroom.

The Springfield location is now more than double the size of the original, with the office space moved up to a new second floor, complete with a conference room for meetings.

The 3,800-sq-.ft showroom features a range of windows, doors, moulding profiles, decking and architectural millwork on display from the TW Perry custom millshop.

Canton, North Carolina-based BarkClad, maker of bark siding, announced a deal with Moss Creek, a custom designer of rustic American-style homes, to be the “strategic provider of bark building materials.” 

BarkClad will offer its signature Natural Poplar Bark and new SmartBark engineered bark siding for use in MossCreek home design projects. The companies had partnered in the past on projects, and the new deal cements the relationship, the companies said.

Wilbanks cut his teeth working for Home Depot, Lowe's, Ernst Home and Nursery, EBS Building Supply and other industry organizations, ranging from entry-level to executive roles. 

As a consultant, Wilbanks provides educational programs, financial and business process analysis, leadership development and executive coaching.

Eagle Materials, producer of basic building materials from wallboard to cement, reported second quarter revenues of $266.3 million, up 17% from the same three-month period last year.

In the quarter, sales of gypsum wallboard increased 17% to $112.7 million. The company implemented a wallboard price increase effective January 2014 and recently announced a 15% price increase effective in January 2015.

The company’s total net earnings increased 25% to $37.7 million.
