Wal-Mart Stores has announced that the president of its China unit is stepping down. A company spokesman said the resignation was unrelated to a Chinese government food safety case against several Wal-Mart stores.

Ed Chan, CEO of Wal-Mart China, left for personal reasons, the company said. Scott Price, president of Wal-Mart Asia, will fill the position in the interim.

In a ruling that may mean new limits on class-action suits, the Supreme Court on Monday ruled for Wal-Mart Stores in the largest sex-discrimination lawsuit in history, as it put the brakes on a massive job discrimination lawsuit against the chain.

The potentially massive workplace discrimination lawsuit brought by female employees against Wal-Mart Stores reached the Supreme Court yesterday, with early points scored for the defense, according to a CNN.com article.

The Supreme Court is hearing arguments and deciding whether the sex-discrimination case can proceed.
