The Home Depot sells the new Cree LED Bulb for as low as $7.97.

Raleigh, North Carolina-based Stock Building Supply opened two new structural component plants, one in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, market and the other near Salt Lake City. 

In Middlesex, North Carolina, production of roof and floor trusses recently began in a 36,000-sq.-ft. location. This facility will join existing store and distribution locations in Raleigh, Apex, Johnston County and Franklin County to serve Raleigh-Durham and adjacent markets in North Carolina.

Durham, N.C.-based Cree, maker of LED technology and products, including a $10 LED bulb found at Home Depot, reported a 20% increase in second-quarter sales.

The company's revenues of $415.1 million were up from $346.3 million in the year-ago quarter. Net income for the second quarter, ended Dec. 29, was $35.7 million, up 75% from last year's second quarter.

Professional Builders Supply was ranked fifth in the Triangle Business Journal’s 2013 “Fast 50” list of fastest-growing companies in the Raleigh-Durham area.  

Professional Builders Supply was ranked No. 19 in 2012. This is the sixth time the company has been included in the list. 

Professional Builders Supply operates in the North Carolina cities of Morrisville, Wilmington and Charlotte, plus a satellite office in Wake Forest.

Durham, N.C.-based Cree, maker of LED lighting products, reported strong gains in sales and net income as it carries the flag for the growth of LED lighting.

Cree announced revenue of $375.0 million in the fourth quarter, up 22% from revenue of $306.8 million in the same quarter last year. Net income for the fourth quarter was $28.2 million, up 182%.
