The PayPal pilot at Home Depot stores is rapidly expanding, going from 51 test locations in the San Francisco Bay Area this week to all 2,000 Home Depot stores by the end of March, according to Bloomberg News.

PayPal director of communications Anuj Nayar told Bloomberg the digital commerce company will extend the trial to 20 additional retail partners by the end of 2012.

A division of EBay, PayPal is experimenting with extending its on-line payment system to point-of-sale retail locations. In the fourth quarter of 2011, it chose Home Depot as its first national retailer for a limited test at five stores. PayPal plans to widen the pilot to 51 stores in the Bay Area by the end of the month, Donahoe said.

He explained to investors how the payment process worked by relating his own experience.

Home Depot is testing the PayPal system at its point-of-sale in five stores, according to an article in American Banker.

Customers can use their PayPal accounts to pay for merchandise by either entering their phone numbers and PayPal PIN, or by swiping their PayPal cards.

More than 2,800 customers across the United States have purchased an ant control product called “Fast Ant Bait” through fastpestcontrol.com, according to the EPA. The product contains mirex, a pesticide that was banned in 1978 because it can cause liver, skin, reproductive and nerve damage.

The Scottsdale Police Department, working with fraud investigators from eBay, Home Depot, Walmart and federal authorities, arrested 36 suspects involved in a major retail theft syndicate that returned stolen merchandise to retailers and then auctioned the gift cards on eBay, according to a Feb. 25 news release from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. The case has uncovered more than $1.2 million in proceeds from the crime, authorities said.
