Mineola, New York-based MAX USA, manufacturer of pneumatic nailing tools, named Jerry Gibson as the company’s new Northwest regional sales executive. 

Gibson’s career includes 30 years of experience selling building products through wholesale distribution. He has 17 years of experience of product management for Spenard Builders Supply and 13 years travelling Alaska for Huttig Building Products as a territory manager.

Craig Cowart will succeed Doug Miller as president of Houston-based hardware distributor Handy Hardware, effective Oct. 1. 

Cowart will lead Handy as it distances itself from its tumultuous recent period and builds on its “ProfitPlus” value proposition, the company said.

Cary Dunston has been named president and COO at American Woodmark Corporation, in which role he will assume the added responsibility for the company's finance and information technology operations.

The Home Depot announced that current CEO Frank Blake will be passing the torch to Craig Menear this fall.

Menear, who is currently serving as president U.S. retail, will take over as CEO and president as of Nov. 1, 2014. He has also been elected to the company's board of directors, effective immediately.

Door manufacturer Masonite International announced Thursday that it would be restructuring its Masonite Israel subsidiary in order to avoid a court-appointed trustee being placed in charge of the company.

In order to restructure, the company requested a stay from the Israeli courts after evaluating the company’s options. The Israel company is currently operating at a loss, and constituted under 1% of Masonite International’s sales in the last fiscal year.

Aurora, Ill.-based LBM dealer Alexander Lumber Co. named Russell Kathrein as CEO and president.

Kathrein has 25 years of experience in the lumber and building material industry, including senior management positions at 84 Lumber, BMC West, and most recently, ProBuild.

Alexander Lumber operates 20 yards in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, along with two truss plants and a counter-top facility.

Sierra Pacific promoted Bob Taylor to VP of business development and customer service for its Window Division.

Taylor played a key role in the success of the SP Window and Door operations and was previously the Plant Manager at the SP Windows Plant in Red Bluff, California.

Haier America announced Paul Riley has been appointed VP sales and marketing for major appliances.

Riley will be accountable for the creation and exectuion of the go-to-market strategy for all categories, the company announced.

Riley has held many sales and marketing roles throughout his 15-year career with GE Appliances, where he most recently worked as senior brand and product line marketing manager. He also led GE's efforts to redefine the Monogram brand through a preferred builder program, a consumer facing rebate program and brand distribution strategy.

American Standard Brands is investing in its design team via three new hires at its Piscataway, New Jersey headquarters, where the design studio is located.

Emilie Williams, Greg Reinecker and Gabriela Ravassa have joined the team, reporting to new VP design Jean-Jacques L’Hénaff.

Williams has been brought on board as associate design director for faucets. Previously, she served as senior designer at Ignite USA, working for the Contigo and AVEX housewares brands. She also had roles at Delta Faucet and Masco Corporation.

Barbour currently is executive VP of Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions business division and an officer of Lockheed Martin.

Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Do it Best Corp. added Nick Talarico as a divisional manager, effective Aug. 1.

In his new role, Talarico will oversee the hand tools, plumbing, cleaning, housewares and InCom departments within merchandising. He had previously served as the co-op’s manager of internal audit since May 2011.

Anderson, California-based Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) hired Tom Takach as VP of operations for the windows division of Sierra Pacific Industries – a family owned and operated wood products business. 

In this new position, Takach will oversee manufacturing and operations for Sierra Pacific’s Red Bluff, California Windows Plant as well as the two newly acquired Hurd and Superseal Window and Door plants in Wisconsin.

Johnson will serve on the company's Compensation and Organization and Innovation and Marketing Committees; her term expires in 2015.

Paul Drobnitch has joined building products distributor ABC Supply Co. as director of corporate development. In his new role, Drobnitch will work with the company’s acquisition team to identify market opportunities and businesses for acquisition.

Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Do it Best Corp. announced the retirement of one of its senior leaders while also transitioning another proven executive into a new position.   

Effective Oct. 24, Do it Best VP of Lumber and Building Materials Quent Ondricek will retire his position, while Gary Nackers, currently director of program development for LBM, will move into that role, effective Sept. 15.

Ralph Bruno has been named president of Novik Sales Corp., the division of Novik Inc. responsible for marketing Novik products throughout the United States.

Bruno brings more than 25 years of success in the building products industry to his new position. Of note are the years he spent with Trex and as president of AZEK Building Products. Bruno will be responsible for designing and implementing the U.S. going-to-market strategy for Novik and will lead the U.S. sales team.

The Home Depot has promoted Ted Decker to the position of EVP merchandising, where he will take the helm of the company's merchandising strategy and operations. Effective Aug. 4, Decker will transition from his most recent role as SVP retail finance and begin reporting to Craig Menear, president U.S. Retail.

Decker has been with the company for 14 years, during which time he played an integral role in the company's merchandising transformation and led the implementation of new pricing and analytics processes.

Chief marketing officer Pat Connolly has been elevated to chief strategy and business development officer. Connolly will work closely with senior management to refine the company’s long-term strategy, including the development of new businesses, and the evaluation and execution of acquisitions and alliances that can provide significant growth.

Todd Dickson has been named CEO at Cincinnati-based home improvement company Champion Home Exteriors, which spans more than 70 locations nationwide.

Dickson will be replacing James Mishler, who has been leading the company as CEO since 2012.
