The Home Depot has launched a nationwide campaign to bring water conservation savvy to the masses, especially those in drought-affected areas.

On April 26, the retailer will hold free Water Conservation Workshops at all 1,977 of its U.S. locations, where attendees can learn ten different strategies for saving water.

These projects include converting to a dual-flush toilet, switching to EPA WaterSense labeled showerheads and faucets, installing drip irrigation and rotary nozzle or dual spray sprinklers and more.

Central Garden & Pet Company has purchased certain assets of Envincio LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of SantoLubes LLC.

The purchase includes established brands, EPA registration assets, inventory and trade receivables.

“This acquisition will enable Central to be a key supplier and product innovator in the growing natural insecticides product market, often characterized as EPA-exempt products, as well as expanding offerings in traditional pesticides,” said Frank Jusich, SVP Professional Brands.

Go to any website that shows required insulation levels by Climate Zone, and you won’t find recommendations for foam over batts, or batts over cellulose. Instead, you’ll see target R-values. It’s the builder’s job to select the materials to hit that target, balancing budgets with preferences.

The Washington, D.C.-based Windows & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) criticized the Energy Star Program for what the WDMA described as a lack of “balance,” among other things. 

The complaint was lodged at the final draft of Version 6.0 program requirements for residential windows, doors and skylights, released July 31.
