Lincoln Electric Holdings, a manufacturer of welding and soldering equipment, has announced the acquisition of Applied Robotics, known in the welding industry by its brand name, Torchmate. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Based in Reno, Nev., Torchmate offers a wide selection of CNC plasma and oxyfuel cutting tables and systems to small and medium-sized fabricators. The company's annual sales are approximately $13 million.

Towson, Md.-based Porter-Cable launched its new 15 AMP Chop Saw (PC14CTSD) that has been designed to offer contractors performance, ergonomics, ease of use, and durability. 

This chop saw is well-suited for mechanical contractors, electrical contractors, metal fabricators, fence builders, and many other tradesmen, according to the manufacturer. The PC14CTSD is capable of handling a number of metal cutting applications on professional jobsites.
