A group of private investors in New York has gone in on a majority interest in Fort Myers-based agribusiness Alico Inc., one of the largest private landowners in Florida.

The all-cash $138 million deal involves 50.5% of Alico's outstanding voting stock, purchased by 734 Agriculture, a private investment company owned by Remy Trafelet and George Brokaw, in partnership with Arlon Group, a global food and agriculture investment firm.

The majority stake will be valued at $37 per share and is due to close in the next 30 to 45 days.

No matter how you slice them, the numbers of the HCN Top 300 Industry Scoreboard reflect the rising housing market, increased spending on the home and an easy comparison with the previous year's performance.

Of the leading 300 home channel retailers, 277 show positive sales in the most recently completed finished fiscal year, and 12 show declines. Eleven others are listed as flat.

A woman was arrested in Fort Myers, Fla., for allegedly stealing four coils of copper wire from a Home Depot store, according to a report on WVZN-TV.

Amber Jones, 26, was confronted outside the store by an employee who said he saw her tuck the wire under a baby blanket next to a child, who was in a car seat.

The four rolls of copper wire were worth a combined $318.46.
