Rosen Materials, a Florida-based distributor of residential and commercial gypsum products and steel framing, has hired Andrew Randle as director of national accounts.

Andrew joins Rosen from Stock Building Supply, where he spent six years and held numerous positions, including building material sales, key account management, divisional sales management and his most recent role as national account manager to numerous top production builders.

Edison, N.J.-based Starborn Industries, a manufacturer and distributor of fastening products, introduced Deckfast Metal for the fast-growing market of steel joist deck framing systems.

The company said more architects and deck builders are using metal joist substructures when creating decks. Deckfast Metal is a fastener that can be used to attach every type of decking -- PVC, composite, capstock and hardwood -- to steel and aluminum substructures.

Nucor Corp. will close its Nuconsteel division and no longer fabricate light gauge steel framing used in residential and commercial structures, the company has announced. Nuconsteel has operations in Denton, Texas, and Dallas, Ga.

Nucor entered the light gauge steel framing business in November 2001 with the acquisition of Itec Steel, which became Nuconsteel shortly thereafter. Nucor expects to close Nuconsteel's facilities in the spring of 2012, after meeting current customer contractual obligations.

DeWalt unveiled its 15-ounce Framing Hammer with an innovative construction process that combines an all-steel head with a lightweight hammer.

During the company's new product luncheon at the Westin Times Square, Dennis Danville, leader of DeWalt's assembly demolition business unit, said the hammers employ MIG Weld Technology to lower the weight of the hammer head.

EcoBlu Products has been awarded a contract to supply Red Shield coated lumber and trusses for 88 home developments being built in Ontario, Calif. 

Frame Right Construction was awarded the framing contract with the inclusion of Red Shield lumber and truss package for all 88 homes. These two-story homes range from 1828 to 2054 square feet and the contract represents 88 out of a potential 110 lots left to be built. The contract is in excess of $1 million in gross revenues for all 88 homes, with 3 models shipping immediately.

Trex Co., a leading manufacturer of composite decking, has acquired the assets of Iron Deck Corp., a manufacturer of steel deck framing systems based in Denver.

Trex Co., a leading manufacturer of composite decking, has acquired the assets of Iron Deck Corp., a manufacturer of steel deck framing systems based in Denver. Trex said it will now manufacture and market a new steel deck framing product called Trex Elevations at its Fernley, Nev., and Winchester, Va., facilities.

ProBuild Holdings, which confirmed last Friday that it was closing 20 of its units across the nation, announced 16 of the locations late Monday. The closures include lumber yards, component facilities, gypsum yards, and millwork facilities in both large and small markets, the Denver-based company said.
