Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s is in the early stages of bringing a store to South Dennis, Mass., on Cape Cod.

"The site Lowe's is pursuing has been designated in the Cape Cod Commission's Regional Policy Plan as being within an Economic Center," said Stacey Lentz, a Lowe's spokeswoman. "We will work with the town, Cape Cod Commission and stakeholders to make this a project the community and Lowe's can be proud of."

Ashland City, Tenn.-based maker of water heaters and boilers launched the A.O. Smith Warranty Check app for contractors and plumbers for use in the field. 

"The iPhone and Android have created a huge demand for on-the-go information from homeowners and professionals," said Matt Southards, senior manager of digital marketing and strategy for A.O. Smith. Jackson Lumber & Millwork has agreed to purchase the assets of the Eastern Lumber Co. in Amesbury, Mass., according to an article in the Newbury Port News.

The 14,000 sq. ft. former Eastern Lumber store, which sits on 3.5 acres, closed last June after 61 years in business.

Power Home Remodeling Group, an East Coast-based provider of exterior home renovations, has expanded its operations to Marlborough, Mass., where it will continue to serve the greater Boston metropolitan area. Power has already hired more than 50 employees in the Boston region and plans to create at least 100 jobs in 2011 and another 100 to 250 in 2012, the company said in a press release.

Aubuchon Hardware, the nation’s largest chain of independent hardware stores, has opened a new location in Cohasset, Mass., according to an article in the Patriot Ledger.

The Westminster, Mass.-based company, which operates more than 130 locations through the Northeast, saw an opportunity in Cohasset when Joseph's Hardware, which served the community for 16 years, closed its doors in February 2010.
