According to an article in the Grand Haven (Mich.) Tribune, a dollar store in Ferrysburg recently expanded into a full-blown hardware store.

The new 12,000-sq.-ft. store is called North Bank Hardware, affiliated with Do it Best. It is co-owned by John Leppink and Rich Cole. It used to be the Grand Dollar store.

An ordinance prohibiting the open burning of building materials and lumber was adopted by the Kalamazoo Township Board in Kalamazoo, Mich, on Aug. 23, according to an article in the Kalamazoo Gazette

The town’s fire marshal told the township board that the ban was necessary because treated lumber, including items like stained cabinets, can often give off toxic fumes.

The Grand Rapids, Mich. company did not specify where or when these cuts will take place; they do not include one-time charges related to reductions, however.

According to an article in the Farmington Patch, an Ace Hardware store in Farmington closed its doors.

The store's shopping center, the Downtown Farmington Center, has been hit with a rash of recent closings. Space previously occupied by Quizno's, Office Depot and Tuesday Morning remain empty, according to the article. The Ace store measured 19,200 square feet.
