Werner’s Energy Seal Attic Ladder, developed with Owens Corning, has become a Home Depot exclusive.

Greenville, Pa.-based Werner Co. is bringing its aluminum Energy Seal Attic Ladder to Home Depot on an exclusive basis.

The new product features the Owens Corning R-5 PINK insulation, within a 1-in. thick door structure. The aluminum attic ladder also features weather stripping around the frame that eliminates 60% of air leakage by creating a tight seal when the door is closed, according to the manufacturer.

Plum Creek Timber Co. has acquired an interest in about 144 million tons of production at four quarries from Vulcan Materials Co. for $75 million.

Plum Creek Timber Co. has acquired an interest in about 144 million tons of production at four quarries from Vulcan Materials Co. for $75 million. The quarries are located near the Greenville and Spartanburg, S.C., markets.

Beginning in January 2013, Plum Creek expects to receive royalty payments from the production and sale of the crushed stone from the quarries for approximately 25 years.

Ladder maker Werner rolled out a new, compact three-piece aluminum extension ladder designed to get in and out of tight spaces.

The Greenville, Pa.-based company said the new line lets 16-ft. extension ladders go where they have never gone before -- around corners, through doors, in elevators and through narrow stairwells. The ladders provide the same reach as a standard extension ladder, but in a compact, easy-to-use design without compromising the quality, safety and reach of a traditional two-piece extension ladder.

Greenville, S.C.-based Guardian Building Products has named Steven Ziessler as president of the fiberglass insulation manufacturer and building products distributor.

Ziessler replaces the retiring Duane Faulkner, and will oversee the worldwide operations of Guardian's building products business, including manufacturing, marketing, distribution and product development.

Ziessler’s background includes positions at Kimberly-Clark, Cellu Tissue and Clearwater Paper.

Home Depot is closing two of its stores in North Carolina because they are not meeting the company’s financial goals, according to a report by WCTI-TV.  

Stores in Rocky Mount and Greenville have begun liquidation sales, which are expected to last six to eight weeks. A corporate spokesperson said the company is trying to relocate the employees.
