A reply to an email arrived in my inbox the other day. It read, in part: “After 99 and 1/2 years and four generations, the ‘community’ bank refused to renew our line of credit. Would love to discuss this issue.”

It was a message from Jack Coleman, who was winding down operations at his fourth-generation lumberyard and home center in Harrodsburg, Ky., not far from Lexington.

Just shy of its 100th anniversary, Harrodsburg, Ky.-based Coleman's Lumber and Home Center has closed its doors.

VP Cala Coleman confirmed to Home Channel News that the single-unit home center near Lexington, Ky. is going out of business.

According to the company's website, the business started as a flour mill in 1912. Owner Jack Coleman Jr. is the great grandson of company founder Clell Coleman, according to the website.
