The No. 1 ranked beach house in the United States -- according to a real estate website -- is a modern-style Montauk, N.Y., home with a price tag in excess of $19 million.

The house topped the list put out by TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, which ranked the Top 10 Coolest Beach Homes for 2012.

Last year, the original 50 Home Channel News Hardware Store All-Star honorees established a high bar and a hard act to follow. But the 2012 crop rises to the challenge. This year’s Hardware Store All-Stars, one from each of the 50 U.S. states, have at least one thing in common: Ask them what makes them special and you can bet they’ll include “excellent customer service” in the answer. From there, every path to stardom is unique.

City Mill Co. plans to open a new store in Ewa Beach, Oahu, Hawaii, at the Laulani Village Shopping Center.

As the second anchor store, City Mill will encompass 40,000 sq. ft. with a 5,000-sq.-ft. area for additional garden, lumber and building materials. The new store is expected to open in late 2012. It will be the company's ninth store.

Allied Building Products Corp. has recently completed three acquisitions: Ivan Supply Co.; the Smyrna, Ga., branch of American Wholesale; and Pacific Source.

Philadelphia-based Ivan Supply Co. is a privately held, four-branch distributor of roofing and siding. It was founded in 1981 by Ivan Tancredi.

Honolulu-based City Mill Company named Ron De Leon as general merchandising manager, responsible for all merchandise sold at the eight-store home improvement company.

De Leon is a former merchant at All American Home Center in California.

Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe's will open an 117,000-sq.-ft. store in Iwilei, Hawaii, on the island of Oahu Thursday, according to a report in the Honolulu Star Advertiser.
