Toano, Va-based Lumber Liquidators has unveiled its new Floor Finder app, available to iPhone and iPad users. 

The app provides mobile access to every floor in Lumber Liquidators’ inventory and includes a feature called The Visualizer, which allows users to place a number of flooring choices in a photo of their own room. These photos can then be uploaded to social media platforms where friends can opine on the user’s flooring choices.

Boise, Idaho-based BMC is rolling out a suite of enterprise mobile apps called “BMC 2 Go” that will transform sales and operations business processes, making employees more mobile, productive and effective through high-value Apple iPhone and iPad applications.

Boston-based tech firm Apperian partnered with BMC to provide its Enterprise App Services Environment (EASE) as the iOS app management platform to deploy and manage mobile applications for its nationwide network of sales and operations personnel.

Ace Hardware is now offering its customers a mobile application, developed by U.S. Bank for the iPhone, to use for an Ace Rewards Visa credit card. The new Ace Rewards Visa App, downloadable at the iTunes store, gives customers the opportunity to apply for and receive, upon approval, immediate credit to start their shopping at participating Ace stores.

"The iPhone and Android have created a huge demand for on-the-go information from homeowners and professionals," said Matt Southards, senior manager of digital marketing and strategy for A.O. Smith. "As an industry leader, we want to provide our plumbing professionals with easy access to critical information from remote locations."

According to Lowe's Rick Damron, executive VP store operations, the Mooresville, N.C.-based retail giant has rolled out iPhones to more than 60% of its stores, where they're used as sales tools and scanners.

The mobile devices customized with retail applications and based on Apple's iPhone technology are expected to be rolled out to all stores by the end of the year.

The third annual Mobile Audit, released Thursday by e-commerce and digital marketing company Acquity Group, found that mobile adoption is on the rise. In fact, the percentage of retailers with a mobile site reached 37% in 2011, up from 12% in 2010 and only 4% in 2009 -- a 210% increase over the past year alone.

Lowe’s announcement on Aug. 31 of its very own Lowe’s App for iPhones and iPads was apparently just one bite of the apple. The home improvement retailer has purchased 42,000 iPhones and intends to use them as mobile cash registers in its stores, according to an article in Business Insider
