A six-sigma expert and a former U.S. Army captain are two of the new executives in BMC’s Atlanta headquarters. 

BMC, which moved its headquarters from Boise, Idaho to Atlanta, Georgia, earlier this year, announced this week a handful of new senior-level executives.

Four new units expanded the ABC Supply building products footprint around the country, including the company’s first location in Vermont. 

Beloit, Wisconsin-based ABC Supply opened branches in Omaha, Nebraska; Nampa, Idaho; North Clarendon, Vermont; and Charleston, West Virginia.

Rodda Paint Co. will acquire five Kelly-Moore company-owned stores, four located in Idaho and one on the Oregon border.  

The stores are located in the Idaho cities of Caldwell, Meridian, Boise and Twin Falls. The Oregon store is in Ontario.

For a company whose fortunes are tied to up-and-down housing starts and remodel-and-repair activity, Boise Cascade has found a way to establish stability for itself in the marketplace.

Its steadfastness is noticed within the industry, because the Boise, Idaho-based lumber supplier and building materials distributor garnered enough nominations to win the 2014 Golden Hammer Award in the Lumber & Plywood category.

Rexburg, Idaho-based Monkey Bar Storage is expanding its product lineup to include Swisstrax flooring for its North American customers.

The selection process was extensive for Tyler Patterson, Monkey Bars flooring specialist. “Quickly, I found that Swisstrax provides the best quality, products and durability,” said Patterson.

The Multanen family, owners of Caldwell, Idaho-based Best Bath Systems, have taken home the award for 2014 Idaho Small Business Person of the Year.

BMC, one of the nation’s major providers of building materials and construction services, is relocating its corporate headquarters from Boise, Idaho, to Atlanta. 

The West-to-East relocation will be done on a phased basis with the executive team moving immediately, the company announced. The Boise office will continue to remain operational.

Greg Wells, former brand marketing manager for Weyerhaeuser's Trus Joist engineered wood products division, has joined Caldwell, Idaho-based Best Bath Systems as director of marketing.

Boise, Idaho-based Boise Cascade has announced that Tom Lovlien, president of the company’s Wood Products division, has retired, effective June 30, 2014.

Boise, Idaho-based BMC launched a brand extension called BMC Design, aimed at boosting service for existing customers and appealing to homeowners, designers and architects. 

BMC describes the new service as “elevated customer service, additional support and a sophisticated experience that builders can share with their buyers as a valuable project-development tool.”

November 14, 2013

Boise, Idaho-based BMC, the building materials and construction services provider and 2012 HCN Pro Dealer of the Year, completed the acquisition of Sacramento-based Western Building Specialties.

The move will expand BMC's millwork offerings in Northern California and strengthen the company's business in the Central Valley of California, a market described as a key U.S. market for homebuilders.

Boise, Idaho-based Boise Cascade Co. reported third-quarter sales of $878.0 million, up 15% from the same quarter a year ago. 

Net income was $15.9 million, down from $23.5 million in the same quarter last year.

CEO Tom Carlile described solid operating performances in both of the company’s businesses – distribution and wood products.

The 2013 ProDealer Industry Summit slated for Nashville Oct. 23-25 will include a panel presentation on the business of components. 

A panel of pro dealers will share thoughts on best practices that govern truss and other component operations. 

Assembled on the panel are Chuck Bankston, president of Bankston Lumber, Barnesville, Ga.; Peter Alexander, CEO of BMC, Boise, Idaho; and Dale Carlson, president of Lyman Lumber, Excelsior, Minn.

The Component business presentation is set for Oct. 25, at 11:00 a.m.

Boise, Idaho-based BMC announced the closing of its $250 million aggregate principal amount private offering of Senior Secured Notes due 2018.

BMC used the net proceeds of the Senior Secured Notes offering to refinance its term loan, pay down its asset-based lending revolver, and pay related fees and expenses. BMC intends to use the remainder of the net proceeds for general corporate purposes.

Weyerhaeuser has increased production of its new Trus Joist TJI joists with Flak Jacket protection, which feature a specialty coating that enhances the joists’ fire resistance. By upgrading to more advanced, high-tech manufacturing techniques and adding an extra shift at its Boise, Idaho, facility, the company has significantly expanded its capacity to meet growing demand for the innovative product line, as well as accommodate ongoing improvement in the single- and multi-family housing markets.

C-A-L Ranch Stores opened its doors in Casa Grande, Ariz., according to TriValleyCentral.com, an Arizona news site. 

The new store, which joins other Arizona C-A-L Ranch locations in Show Low, Prescott and Flagstaff, will operate out of a from Albertsons grocery store building.

Privately held C-A-L Ranch Stores operates 22 stores in Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Arizona.

Boise, Idaho-based Boise Cascade Co. reported second-quarter sales of $852.3 million, up 16% over the same quarter last year. 

Net income of $10.4 million was down from $15.0 million in last year's second quarter, as gross margins in the company's distribution segment were adversely affected by commodity prices.

No matter how you slice them, the numbers of the HCN Top 300 Industry Scoreboard reflect the rising housing market, increased spending on the home and an easy comparison with the previous year's performance.

Of the leading 300 home channel retailers, 277 show positive sales in the most recently completed finished fiscal year, and 12 show declines. Eleven others are listed as flat.

Las Vegas -- During the BMC National Meeting here at the M Resort, the Boise, Idaho-based pro dealer stressed team building and education.

BMC also identified outstanding individual performances. The 88-unit pro dealer recognized Christopher Cysensky as Platinum Salesman of the Year. Cysensky is the outside sales representative for the Pacific Northwest, working in the company's Tacoma, Wash., location. The performance-based award was given Tuesday night during the Sales Awards Ceremony and Dinner.

Las Vegas -- Memphis, Tenn.-based distributor Orgill recently signed a distribution agreement with BMC, supplying hardlines to the Boise, Idaho-based pro dealer.

The distribution and services deal was signed late last year, and replaces BMC's similar distribution agreement with True Value Corp. The transition is in its early stages, according to both Orgill and BMC.

Orgill is making its first appearance at the BMC National Meeting and trade show in Las Vegas Jan. 8-11.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted the trade mark "SummerWinds" to SummerWinds Garden Centers.

SummerWinds Garden Centers is a Boise, Idaho-based high-end retailer of garden and nursery products. SummerWinds operates retail nurseries in the Silicon Valley of California; Phoenix; and St. Louis. The retailer says it appeals to both the serious and casual gardener with a broad selection of premium gardening products and knowledgeable staff.
