The Oak Brook, Ill.-based co-op says it intends to spread the word about the growth of Craftsman products in Ace stores.

Oak Brook, Ill.-based Ace Hardware says the rollout of the Craftsman brand across its network of stores has crossed the 2,000 location milestone. 

Since Ace signed a deal in 2010 with Sears to bring Craftsman products to Ace stores, more than 2,000 neighborhood Ace stores now offer a full line assortment of more than 650 Craftsman products, the co-op announced today.

Industry vendors have a unique opportunity to introduce their products to Ace Hardware’s merchandise buyers during its Buying Days event on June 7 in Oak Brook, Ill.

Oak Brook, Ill.-based Ace Hardware Corp. is hosting a Buying Days event June 7 in Oak Brook at the Doubletree Hotel on Spring Road.

The co-op says it is offering vendors an opportunity to introduce their products to Ace buyers during the event. “This event allows prospective vendors to efficiently and effectively introduce their business and products to Ace Hardware,” according to an announcement for the event.

Ray Griffith, the recently retired CEO of Ace Hardware, will enter the Home Channel Hall of Fame during the National Hardware Show in May.

The Home Channel Hall of Fame will induct Ray Griffith during the Golden Hammer Awards breakfast ceremony May 8 in Las Vegas.

The event coincides with the 2013 National Hardware Show, May 7-9, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Not far from St. Louis in St. Peter's, Mo., and O'Fallon, Ill., two new Menards stores will open Tuesday.

Two Menards stores are set to open April 9 near St. Louis -- one in St. Peter's, Mo., and the other in O'Fallen, Ill.

“We’re pleased that we were able to build a new Menards store at this location in St. Peters and will do our best to work hard each and every day to provide a great shopping experience for our customers," said Ryan Gawinski, St. Peters, Menards general manager in a press release. 'We want to make a real positive impression on everyone starting Tuesday.”

The Oak Brook, Ill.-based co-op reported fiscal 2012 revenues of $3.8 billion along with a strong fourth quarter.

Oak Brook, Ill.-based Ace Hardware Corp. posted fiscal 2012 revenues of $3.8 billion, up 3.6% from the previous year. 

The co-op’s net income of $81.8 million increased 5.3% for the year.

“We are very pleased with our fiscal 2012 results as revenues and net income were both higher than last year and our plan,” said Ray Griffith, Ace CEO, who will be replaced by John Venhuizen as CEO, effective March 31.

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears Holdings posted sales declines for both its fourth quarter and full year, but the retail icon narrowed its losses significantly.

The company's net loss for the fourth quarter was $489 million, compared with a loss of $2.4 billion in the year-ago quarter. For the full year, the company narrowed its loss to $930 million from $3.1 billion.

The Oak Brook, Ill.-based co-op launched hardwarestoresforsale.com as a listing service for retailers, regardless of affiliation.

A new online tool from Oak Brook, Ill.-based Ace Hardware is designed to help retailers sell a hardware store or find an existing retail space.

The website -- hardwarestoresforsale.com -- launched in mid-February as a listing service for "all convenience hardware retailers, no matter their affiliation."

The new building center and showroom will occupy the site of the former Franklin Emery (F.E.) Wheaton Lumberyard.

Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based Edward Hines Lumber, a subsidiary of US LBM Holdings, will open a full-service building supply center and showroom in May in the Chicago area.

The new facility will occupy the site of the former Franklin Emery (F.E.) Wheaton Lumberyard. The downtown Wheaton, Ill., property has been vacant since F.E. Wheaton closed in 2010. The new lumberyard will be managed by former F.E. Wheaton 
general manager of 28 years, Pat Briody.

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears Holdings Corp. has added Paul G. DePodesta to its board of directors.

DePodesta is currently VP player development and amateur scouting for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball, but he is more famous as the young, forward-thinking, statistics-obsessed Oakland A's executive upon whom the Jonah Hill character was partially based in the recent movie "Moneyball."
