Lifetime Brands, a leading global provider of branded kitchenware, tableware and other products used in the home, is seeing the results of its aggressive growth strategy -- which included the acquisition of four businesses during the period -- in the first quarter ended March 31.

Consolidated net sales for the quarter were $118.4 million, soaring 20% from $98.7 million for the corresponding period in 2013.

Lifetime Brands has purchased Kitchen Craft, a U.K. kitchenware products and accessories supplier formally known as Thomas Plant (Birmingham) Ltd.

"Kitchen Craft's broad ranges of kitchenware products fill a gap in our existing U.K. housewares assortment that will complement the tableware and gift assortments marketed by Creative Tops," said Lifetime Brands chairman and CEO Jeffrey Siegel.

Bob Varakian and Stephen Spitz were appointed to new roles at kitchenware and tabletop manufacturer Lifetime Brands.

Varakian will serve as group president of the company's cutlery/cutting boards and cookware/bakeware divisions, effective Jan. 6. He will report to Lifetime chairman and CEO Jeffrey Siegel. The company also named Stephen Spitz to the role of president for the cutlery/cutting boards division, and he will report to Varakian.

Lifetime Brands has appointed Daniel Siegel as president. Since joining the company in 1992, Siegel has held various positions, including senior VP sales and executive VP. He also serves on the boards of directors of Grupo Vasconia S.A.B., Lifetime’s 30%-owned partner company in Mexico, and GS Internacional S/A, the company’s 40%-owned partner company in Brazil.
