Johns Manville is unveiling the next generation of its polyisocyanurate product line, which will be known in home improvement circles as ENRGY 3.E.

The main thing setting this new insulation product apart from its predecessor is its ability to meet fire tests and codes without any added halogenated flame retardants. In a word, it's inherently fire-resistant.

To get to that point, Johns Manville added a reactive polymer modifier to boost the foam's cell structure.

Johns Manville added commercial and residential mineral wool insulation to its product mix.

Contractors also enhance their bottom line because it’s rigid for accurate cutting and fitting, compressed and durable for easy transport and requires zero downtime during installation.”

Go to any website that shows required insulation levels by Climate Zone, and you won’t find recommendations for foam over batts, or batts over cellulose. Instead, you’ll see target R-values. It’s the builder’s job to select the materials to hit that target, balancing budgets with preferences.
