A former co-founder of Building Industry Partners has formed a new venture that targets privately owned “middle market” LBM companies. Anchor Peabody LLC, founded by Jason Fraler, offers private equity capital, mergers and acquisitions and debt advisory to the building and construction industry. 

Joining the firm’s advisory board is Tony DeCarlo, the former CEO of Lumbermens Merchandising Corporation (LMC).

Paint Sundries Solutions, Inc (PSS) has partnered with Lumbermens Merchandising Corp. (LMC), a leading forest products and building materials buying group.

PSS is a full-service distributor of brand name paint-related products headquartered in Kirkland, Wash., with distribution centers in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles and Dallas. 

In the central and western United States, PSS will offer premium products along with market expertise, according to the press release announcing the move.

Performing in a tough business environment was one of the themes at the LMC annual meeting held this month in Fort Worth, Texas. 

“The essence of LMC is the collective strength of our dealers,” said John Somerville, LMC’s president and CEO, during his general session remarks. “Obstacles abound, but the strength of our dealers, suppliers and our staff has allowed us to beat expectations. While single-family housing starts declined 9% in 2011, LMC’s sales finished up 5% from 2010.”

Building material co-op Lumbermens Merchandising Corporation (LMC) has announced the addition of Hillsboro, Ore.-based Parr Lumber to its group of independent lumberyards. Parr Lumber has 30 locations in the Northwest and ranked 13th on the Home Channel News Top 200 Pro Dealer Scoreboard.

Wayne, Pa.-based Lumbermens Merchandising Corp. (LMC) relaunched its corporate website and reported a surge in traffic.

The redesigned site provides LMC dealers with access to electronic invoicing, accounting functions, product and program information and member news, among other things.

Activant Solutions Inc. and Lumbermens Merchandising Corp. (LMC) have announced an expansion of their 20-year marketing relationship, which will offer the building materials co-op access to the Activant Eagle system and the Activant Catalyst platform. More than half of LMC’s 360 members run their businesses on Activant Solutions, according to the announcement.
