Melville, N.Y.-based Leviton announced the establishment of its first base of operations in Johannesburg, South Africa. The new South African facility, which will operate as Leviton Africa (Pty), will provide commercial lighting solutions to customers in one of the world’s most rapidly expanding markets. 

With the opening, Leviton also furthers its global expansion efforts to now include a footprint on all seven continents.

Melville, N.Y.-based Leviton Tuesday announced the acquisition of JCC Advanced Lighting, a United Kingdom-based leader in LED lighting suitable for a wide variety of residential and commercial applications. 

The acquisition establishes Leviton in the U.K. market and affords the company growth opportunities internationally, according to the company.

As Melville, N.Y.-based Leviton expands its factory trainings offering, the company hired Patrick Donnelly as a technical sales specialist. 

Donnelly will take the lead in creating trainings targetedfor installers and potential Five Star dealers who wish to become part of Leviton's Security & Automation integrator Program for Commercial Initiatives. 

"Patrick Donnelly brings a wealth of experience, talent and industry knowledge to this role," said William Marshall, Leviton's senior VP of sales and marketing."

Melville, N.Y.-based Leviton received the 2013 Industry Award of Merit at the National Association of Electrical Distributors’ (NAED) national meeting in Boston. 

As part of NAED’s Annual Achievement Awards, which recognize individuals and companies that embody the industry's highest standards, Leviton was honored for the company’s active role in promoting and supporting the wholesale electrical distribution industry.

Melville, N.Y.-based Leviton, manufacturer of electrical devices, promoted Marvin Hagemeier to the position of director of commercial and industrial sales for the Western Region.

Hagemeier joined Leviton in 1985 as an electrical distribution sales representative in East and Central Texas, and was promoted to Electrical Distribution Sales Manager for the Dallas District in 1992. In 2010 he assumed the role of South Central Regional Sales Manager.

Hagemeier will succeed Izzy Oleinik, who after a career of 23 years with Leviton, retired on January 1, 2012.

According to Leviton, the Obvius acquisition allows the company to offer the most complete line of lighting and energy management solutions. A complementary strategic addition to Leviton’s current line, Leviton now offers solutions to meet all measurement and verification-based opportunities, such as smart metering, energy data information, load management and LEED rating achievement.

Leviton, based in Melville, N.Y., is producing the Evr-Green 160 Level 2 Home Charging Station, which has received the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) Listing for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) in the United States and Canada.
