Citing legal concerns, the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) is urging the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) to withdraw "Improved Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses," its proposed injury and illness reporting rule.

The rule would increase the frequency with which employers had to report injury and illness data (in new electronic formats), as well as treat the data as public information.

The National Lumber and Buiding Materials Dealers Association (NLBMDA) released a statement this morning welcoming the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) decision to abandon the Poster Rule.

"The NLRB clearly overstepped its authority with the Poster Rule," said Michael O'Brien, president & CEO of NLBMDA. "NLBMDA is pleased that the NLRB will not continue its misguided pursuit of the rule and this is good news for lumber and building material dealers."

Among the five speakers scheduled to present at the 2013 ProDealer Industry Summit is Michael O'Brien, CAE, who is president and CEO of the National Lumber & Building Material Dealers Assocation (NLBMDA).

At the helm of the association, O'Brien is in charge of the day-to-day as well as various strategic initiatives. He oversees lobbying, grassroots and political action campaigns for the organization, as well as operative functions such as membership services, public relations, federation relations, industry relations and financial management.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) asked for comments. The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) has several.

In response to an action by the EPA seeking additional comments on proposed draft Energy Star Version 6.0 criteria for skylights, WDMA is calling on the agency to address additional concerns the industry has about the skylight criteria, the proposed window and door criteria and the overall direction of the Energy Star program.

Sulphur, La.-based Stine Lumber operates 13 locations in Louisiana, and is owned and operated by the Stine family.
