The third annual Mobile Audit, released Thursday by e-commerce and digital marketing company Acquity Group, found that mobile adoption is on the rise. In fact, the percentage of retailers with a mobile site reached 37% in 2011, up from 12% in 2010 and only 4% in 2009 -- a 210% increase over the past year alone.

Getting rid of mobile homes damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Irene is a costly impediment for many low-income households wanting to start over. But a public-private partnership spearheaded by Vermont state officials got a $25,000 infusion from Aubuchon Hardware, a northeastern chain of 130-plus hardware stores.

Marcus Moran Jr., Aubuchon president and CEO, presented the donation to Lt. Governor Scott and Lawrence Miller, Secretary of Commerce and Community Development, in a ceremony on Oct. 3. Aubuchon has 25 stores located in Vermont, according to the company’s website.

A survey conducted in September at the annual Shop.org Retail Summit in Boston showed that that almost half of all retailers surveyed planned to offer eGifting this holiday season, and 44% were looking at location-based deals as a key element of their mobile marketing strategy. 

The survey, sponsored by CashStar, found a growing number of concerns among retailers about the lack of personalization of gift cards.

Fifty percent of Americans use a mobile device to navigate their shopping journey, according to a new study released by Arc Worldwide, Leo Burnett’s marketing services arm.

The study -- “Marketing to the Mobile Shopper” -- found that mobile shopping has become a way of life for Americans. This trend is changing the traditional shopping journey and leaving companies with a serious ultimatum: Deliver valuable mobile experiences or risk losing customers.
