Mohawk purchases global tile manufacturer

Carpet manufacturer Mohawk Industries has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Marazzi Group, a worldwide maker and marketer of ceramic tile, for $1.5 billion in cash and equity. The deal is expected to close during the first quarter of 2013.

Mohawk to purchase Pergo

Mohawk Industries has agreed to purchase Pergo, one of the original manufacturers of laminate flooring, for $150 million in cash. Pergo's sales in 2011 were approximately $320 million in the United States and Europe, and the deal would include two production facilities in the United States and two in Sweden.

Mohawk Industries has announced the appointment of Brian Carson as president of Mohawk’s flooring business unit and John "J.T." Turner Jr. as president of the Dal-Tile business unit. Both appointments are effective Jan. 2, 2012.
