Newport News, Virginia-based plumbing distributor Ferguson is building a new distribution center in Coxsackie, New York. The company has also leased property for a regional distribution hub in Secaucus, New Jersey.

The two facilities will house almost 1 million sq. ft. of warehouse space and will support Ferguson’s metro New York and Northeast branches, ensuring that customers receive product quickly.

Ferguson is the largest wholesale plumbing distributor in the United States.

Ferguson, the largest wholesale plumbing distributor in the U.S., acquired Factory Direct Appliances.

Factory Direct Appliance is a seven-location appliance dealer with five showrooms in Kansas City, Mo., and two outlying locations in Des Moines, Iowa, and Omaha, Neb. 

The deal marks the second big acquisition of the year for Ferguson, which acquired Karl’s Appliance in February. Karl’s operates six showrooms in northern New Jersey.

According to a report in the Cincinnati Enquirer, The Klingenberg's Do it Best hardware store in Newport, Ky., has closed. 

The store had operated under various owners for 90 years. It was one of five Klingenberg hardware stores opened by five Klingenberg brothers in 1922, according to the newspaper.

Ferguson Enterprises, one of the nation’s largest plumbing and HVAC wholesalers, has leased industrial space at the port of Houston, according to the Houston Business Journal.

The Newport News, Va.–based company, which has several locations in the Houston area, has leased about 206,000 sq. ft. of industrial space at the Port Crossing Commerce Center in La Porte.

Newport News, Va.-based Ferguson Enterprises has purchased the assets of SG Supply Co., a Calumet Park, Ill.supplier of plumbing products, water heaters, hydronic heating, and pipe, valves and fittings for plumbing and mechanical contractors. The purchase price of the transaction, reported by Industrial Distribution, was not disclosed.
