Bloomberg is reporting that Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp. received bankruptcy court approval for $176.3 million in financing. 

The debtor-in-possession loan will fund operations at some 60 Orchard Supply Stores, as the California chain awaits finalization of an acquisition offer put forth by Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s.

Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp. announced it will add two California stores to its rollout of a new neighborhood format, with the grand re-openings of a pair of stores in the company’s hometown of San Jose on Oct. 6. 

Both stores have been operational for years, but the company said that the reformatting is so significant that they would be marked by grand re-opening celebrations.

San Jose, Calif.-based Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp. plans to open a new Orchard Supply Hardware store in Fresno, Calif. on April 14th. 

The store will be Orchard’s 88th, and the fourth store in Fresno. Grand Opening events include a ribbon-cutting ceremony beginning at 7 a.m., as well as day-long vendor demos, spin and win, kid’s activities and door prizes, including a patio set and a Weber Summit Grill.

California retailer Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp. entered into a multi-year distribution agreement with high-end paint manufacturer Benjamin Moore & Co.

Under the agreement, Benjamin Moore will become Orchard's supplier of interior and exterior paint coatings. The rollout to Orchard's 87-store chain is expected to begin in March and be completed by August 2012.
