Denver-based PRO Group said it is helping its affiliated stores through the use of QR (quick-response) codes.

Denver-based PRO Group said it is helping its affiliated stores through the use of QR (quick-response) codes.

By using QR (quick-response) codes, PRO-affiliated stores can let consumers tap bargains and information by tapping their smartphones; links reveal coupons for goods and demonstration videos for do-it-yourself projects.

Distribution America, PRO Group hold joint conference

Distribution America and the PRO Group met for their Executive Planning Conference Nov. 12 to 14 in Tucson, Ariz., to discuss new product lines, program launches and business opportunities. More than 400 distributors and manufacturers were in attendance, and almost 2,800 scheduled meetings were held between buyers and sellers.

Scheduled buying highlights PRO Group conference

Manufacturers and distributors met during the annual Group Merchandising Conference hosted by PRO Group June 18 to 21 at the Embassy Suites Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park. This is the sixth year distributors from Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Val-Test have participated.

Distributors tour each other’s DCs

An event organized by the PRO Group from April 24 to 26 brought together 25 distributors from around the country to tour two warehouse facilities and share new developments in distribution operations.

The tours took place at Reiss Wholesale Hardware Co., Inc. in Brooklyn, N.Y., and R3 Redistribution – Metro South in Perth Amboy, N.J. Both distributors are affiliated with PRO Group, Inc.

Bill Bollin of Bostwick-Braun receives lifetime honor

Bill Bollin, chairman and CEO of The Bostwick-Braun Co., was honored with a Lifetime of Achievement award on Nov. 3 by the PRO Group at its annual Executive Planning Conference in Naples, Fla.

Bollin joined the Toledo, Ohio-based Bostwick-Braun Co. in 1970, working in the warehouse and later moving on to shipping, office support, data processing, purchasing, management and all the way to his current position as chairman.

National Hardware Show kicks off Tuesday in Las Vegas

The 2011 National Hardware Show opens today in Las Vegas, featuring thousands of products organized across nine categories on the massive Las Vegas Convention Center show floor.

The Show will continue to offer exciting special events, including product demonstrations, roundtables, informative addresses and panels by industry experts, including the Golden Hammer Awards breakfast event, taking place Wednesday morning.
