Global sanitation expert Jim McHale of American Standard Brands will speak at the 2014 Consumer Goods Emerging Markets Forum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sept. 18, 2014.

McHale will discuss the initial results of the Company’s Flush for Good campaign, which to date has focused on improving access to safe sanitation in Bangladesh and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Mid-State Lumber Corp. has hired David Baldino as its newest territory manager for the Connecticut market.

Baldino brings over 33 years of sales experience to the table specific to the building materials industry.

He got his start working as a sales representative for a retail lumber yard out of college, and spent the last 30 years working as a sales representative in the wholesale chain, with a focus on Connecticut.

In his most recent position, he served as sales representative at BB&S Treaters of New England.

Joy Seitz, CEO of Scottsdale-based American Solar & Roofing, is joining the ranks of Seattle-based minimum wage advocates by making bold moves with the company's family-leave policy.

The residential roofing and solar services company is now extending one month of paid family leave to its employees, placing it among the 17% of U.S. employers that offer any level of paid family leave.

Simpson Door Company has hired Phil Steklenski as its newest VP and general manager, replacing Stacie Conkle, who is retiring after 28 years with the company.

"I am pleased to be joining a strong and long-tenured leadership team, and am honored to lead Simpson Door Company in its next stage of growth," Steklenski said.

In his new role, Steklenski will be oversee all of the company's operations.

European home improvement retailer Kingfisher has found a new CEO in Veronique Laury, formerly the head of the company's French unit, Castorama.

Laury will fill the shoes of Ian Cheshire, who served as chief executive for nearly seven years and is stepping down by the end of 2014. She will also become the fifth female CEO in Britain's FTSE 100 index of blue chip companies.

Atlas Copco Dynapac has appointed Jerry Hackett to the position of regional sales manager – south central U.S., effective immediately. 

He will report to Steve Cole, VP of the Road Construction Equipment Division for the Commerce City, Colorado-based company that specializes in sales, parts, service and rental of portable compressors, generators, tools, attachments and paving equipment used in the construction and demolition industries.

AZEK Building Products has announced a winner in its "Deck of Inspiration" Sweepstakes, held jointly with Real Simple.

Tanya Tople of Viborg, South Dakota, won the grand prize of $10,000 in AZEK Deck products, which will go toward the construction of a new deck. She also won the Real Simple A-Lister package of $3,000 in dinnerware, outdoor games, gift certificates and more.

Tople's current outdoor space consists of a cement area outside -- an unfit space for her frequent get-togethers.

Tractor Supply named Chad Frazell as senior VP human resources. 

Prior to joining Tractor Supply Company, Frazell was senior VP human resources for Shopko Stores. From 2008 to 2011, he served as VP human resources for Kohl's Corporation, where he began as a store manager in 1999. Prior to 1999, Frazell served as a store manager and assistant manager for Target Corporation. He began his career with Wal-Mart Stores, where he served as an assistant manager and sales associate.

Sarno’s past experience includes positions at Interline Brands and W.W. Granger. According to the company, Sarno has deep experience in the wholesale and distribution industries. 

The company made the announcement at its recent Fall Market in San Antonio.

In this post, Guerin is charged with overseeing the strategic direction and growth for the company’s loyalty business across the country. He replaces Matt McNerney, who became president of Ipsos MarketQuest in the U.S in January 2014.

Armstrong World Industries has reshuffled its management structure, appointing Donald Maier to the post of EVP and CEO, Armstrong Flooring Products, in order to fill the vacancy left by Thomas Mangas.

Previously, Maier was serving as SVP global operations excellence. He has been with the company since 2010, during which time he played a pivotal role in the company's Lean transformation and established a new project management process and safety program.

He has also worked for TPG Capital Advisors and as VP and general manager of Hill-Rom's North American business.

Sandy Kennedy, president of the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), has offered her two cents on the standoff surrounding the union negotiations at the West Coast ports.

Kennedy addressed a letter to the heads of the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), speaking on behalf of retailers who are experiencing uncertainty and instability over the ongoing conflict.

Following a strong fiscal year report, Bunnings managing director John Gillam described across-the-board growth for the retailer “down under. “

“The all-around breadth of the trading performance was pleasing, with sales growth achieved in consumer and commercial areas, within all merchandising categories and across all regions of Australia and New Zealand,” Gillam said.

The company announced total store sales growth of 11.7%, and comparable-store sales gains of 8.4%.
