The Home Depot announced that current CEO Frank Blake will be passing the torch to Craig Menear this fall.

Menear, who is currently serving as president U.S. retail, will take over as CEO and president as of Nov. 1, 2014. He has also been elected to the company's board of directors, effective immediately.

Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Do it Best Corp. added Nick Talarico as a divisional manager, effective Aug. 1.

In his new role, Talarico will oversee the hand tools, plumbing, cleaning, housewares and InCom departments within merchandising. He had previously served as the co-op’s manager of internal audit since May 2011.

Chelsea Building Products has hired Matthew Coulson as its research and development engineer specializing in proprietary PVC formulations. As part of Chelsea’s research department, Coulson will focus on the continued improvement of their PVC and composite PVC formulations.

Morgan Stanley and HomeSphere have been collaborating on home builder research and survey efforts since the start of 2014. The July 22 webinar will present their insights for the first half of the year.

Columbus, Georgia-based Char-Broil, a division of the W.C. Bradley Co., named Christine M. Robins as president and CEO, effective June 2.

Robins served for the past five years as president and CEO of Pittsburgh-based BodyMedia, a venture-backed pioneering company in wearable health sensors and software that help consumers and professionals better manage health and wellness. Robins totally transformed BodyMedia via a new business strategy and the diversification of products and customers leading to the successful sale of the company to Jawbone.

Beloit, Wis.-based ABC Supply Co. promoted Todd Buehl to the position of chief financial officer and treasurer, effective April 1. Buehl, who joined ABC Supply as vice president and chief administrative officer in 2012, succeeds Kendra Story, who is retiring as chief financial officer and treasurer after nearly 32 years with the company.

Building products distributor Cedar Creek hired John Edwards as engineered wood manager in Statesville, N.C.

Edwards is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering and has spent 27 years in the EWP industry, most recently with International Beam. The company says he "will use his extensive experience to help lead Cedar Creek’s market share growth across Statesville’s multi-state coverage area."

Stanley Black & Decker's board of directors has added Debra Crew, president of PepsiCo Americas Beverages. Crew joined PepsiCo in 2010 as president of the western region of PepsiCo Europe, and was promoted in 2012. 

Prior to PepsiCo, she held a number of management and leadership roles at Mars, Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream and Kraft Foods.

Plum Creek Timber Company has announced the appointment of Sara Grootwassink Lewis to the company's board of directors. She is founder and CEO of capital markets and board advisory firm Lewis Corporate Advisors.

Lewis, who is the ninth independent member of the company's board, has an extensive background in finance and capital markets. 

Prior to her work with Lewis Corporate Advisors, she was EVP and CFO of Washington Real Estate Investment Trust. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a certified public accountant.

Brian J. Harris has been appointed CFO and Anne L. Benedict has been named chief legal officer at heavy-side building materials company Summit Materials. Harris' appointment is effective Oct. 14, while Benedict's is Oct. 1.

Harris replaces John R. Murphy, who has stepped down as interim CFO and will continue to serve as a director and chairman of the audit committee of the board of directors for Summit's indirect parent company.

Piscataway, N.J.-based American Standard Brands announced that John Gillespie has joined the company as VP marketing for the company's trade division.

Ed Elias has been elected to serve as president of APA -- The Engineered Wood Association, following the retirement of Dennis Hardman later this year. 

Elias is a 35-year APA veteran, having worked in APA’s technical, international marketing and financial divisions. He is currently the association’s VP and corporate secretary.

The APA is formerly known as the American Plywood Association

Credited for creating a sort of industry standard for warehouse home centers, Denny was president of W.R. Grace and Co.'s home center division. When Kmart bought Home Centers of America in 1984, Denny was tapped to oversee its expansion under the brand name Builders Square.

A message from Denny's family said he died Monday morning, "after the usual tough fight he was known for throughout his career." He was 79.

Dan Russell Coleman was a lumber industry executive, community leader, Air Force veteran and father. He died at his home in Victoria, Texas, May 25 at the age of 82.

According to his obituary notice, he was born in Waxahachie, Texas on May 8, 1931 and moved to Victoria, Texas in 1936, when his father accepted a management position with Zarsky Lumber Co.

Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s has promoted Stephen Szilagyi to the post of supply chain executive, responsible for overseeing Lowe’s state-of-the-art logistics and distribution network that expedites the replenishment of merchandise and supplies to all Lowe’s stores.

He will report to Rick Damron, chief operating officer.

Michael Jones comes to the No. 2 home center chain from Husqvarna.

Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s has hired Michael Jones as its chief merchandising officer. 

Jones will be responsible for the merchandising offering for Lowe's stores and Lowes.com as well as all global sourcing activities. He will report to chief customer officer Gregory M. Bridgeford.
