Columbia Forest Products has announced an agreement with Greenwod Tree Farm Fund (GTFF) to use its FSC-certified timber for its MPX hardwood plywood.

The plantation-grown hybrid poplar log will be used for the creation of core veneers for the hardwood panels, which feature PureBond formaldehyde-free technology. Popular panels are superior to those made of fir and pine, according to the manufacturer, because they can suppress the thickness variation and core telegraphing of the veneers.

Pacific States Industries, a California-based forest products and building materials company, acquired the privately owned Hoquiam Plywood Co. of Hoquiam, Wash. 

The Hoquiam facility is known for its premium plywood sheathing. Operations at the western Washington facility will come under the direction of Pacific States Plywood (PSP), headquartered in Springfield, Ore.

MarJam Supply Co. has acquired a Lainhart & Potter, a 119-year-old Florida hardware and LBM dealer, with locations in West Palm and Juniper. These two locations will expand MarJam’s current Florida yards, which include Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, Ft. Myers and Wildwood.

CFP Components, a division of Columbia Forest Products, has acquired Cabinotch, a maker of ready-to-assemble face-framed cabinet boxes that feature Columbia’s formaldehyde-free PureBond hardwood plywood.

The Cabinotch system, which involves a patent-pending interlocking side panel-to-face frame joint, has been shown to help cabinet shops reduce costs and improve productivity, according to the company.
