Trex Company is making its debut in the world of e-commerce, but not in the way one would necessarily expect of the decking and railing manufacturer.
Trex is launching its high-performance Outdoor Lighting collection on Amazon.com, bypassing its own website to join other Trex-branded products that have populated Amazon's site via Trex licensees (such as Trex Outdoor Furniture, Trex RainEscape and Trex Pergola). However, this will be the first product line sold directly by Trex online.
Trex CEO and president Ronald Kaplan gave a few words on the company's recent entry into a new development project in Dubai -- what will eventually be the Emirate's longest boardwalk.
"We are honored to have been chosen to be part of such a significant and beneficial endeavor," said Kaplan. "This project marks a major milestone for Trex as the Corniche represents one of the largest uses of Trex decking in a single public installation. Selection of our Transcend product is a testament to the proven quality and durability of Trex offerings.
Trex has added a new color to its Trex Transcend decking collection: a light gray called Island Mist. This, silvery shade features realistic streaking that mimics the natural look and feel of aged tropical hardwood, and is designed to be a cooler complement to the three existing tropical-inspired shades and the five earth-tone Trex Transcend colors.
Trex Company has appointed Gerald Volas to its board of directors, effective March 1, 2014.
“Jerry’s extensive experience in all aspects of the home improvement sector and his in-depth understanding of leadership brands make him an excellent addition to our board," said Trex chairman, president and CEO Ronald Kaplan. "We look forward to his contributions as we work to further expand Trex’s industry-leading distribution presence, our best-in-class product platform and our branding presence.”
