RPM International, the maker of Zinsser, Rust-Oleum, DAP, Varathane, and other specialty coatings and adhesives, has signed an agreement to acquire Legend Brands, a provider of equipment and solutions for water and fire damage restoration, professional cleaning and environmental control.

Based in Burlington, Wash., Legend Brands has annual sales of more than $70 million. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

RPM Performance Coatings Group, a Medina, Ohio, holding company that owns consumer brands Zinsser, Rust-Oleum, DAP and Varathane, has purchased API, an Italian flooring and deck coating business. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Based in Genoa, Italy, API is a $28 million company that produces and installs epoxy and polyurethane flooring systems for the Italian building market. It specializes decking solutions for cruise ships, mega-yachts and naval applications.

RPM International, the maker of Rust-Oleum, DAP, Zinsser, and other building products, reported $1.9 million in net income for its third fiscal quarter, swinging from a loss of $9.4 million in the same quarter of 2010.

RPM International, the maker of Rust-Oleum, DAP, Zinsser and other building products, reported $1.9 million in net income for its third fiscal quarter, swinging from a loss of $9.4 million in the same quarter of 2010. 

Sales for the Medina, Ohio-based manufacturer were $679 million for the third quarter, compared with $666.5 million a year ago. 

RPM deconsolidated its specialty products unit at the end of its previous fiscal year on May 31, 2010. This eliminated about $300 million in annual revenue from the company's industrial segment in June.
