Williams-Sonoma said its second-quarter net income rose 10%, fueled by double-digit sales growth at its Pottery Barn and West Elm stores. The results beat analysts’ expectations, and the company also raised its profit and sales predictions for the full year.

For the quarter ended July 29, Williams-Sonoma earned $43.4 million, up from $39.3 million in the same period last year.

Williams-Sonoma, the upscale purveyor of housewares, believes its multichannel strategy is paying off with sales and earnings. 

Fourth-quarter sales increased 6.1% to $1.268 billion, compared with $1.195 billion in the same quarter last year.

Net income of $122.6 million for the quarter was up 8.1% from $113.4 million.

Williams-Sonoma announced that net revenues for the fourth quarter of 2010 increased 9.7% to $1.2 billion from $1.09 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009, including Internet net revenue growth of 27.2% and a comparable-store sales increase of 5.2%.

Williams-Sonoma reported that net revenues for the 2010 fiscal year increased 12.9% to $3.5 billion from $3.1 billion in 2009, including Internet net revenue growth of 26.9% and a comparable-store sales increase of 9.8%.
