The Home Improvement Research Institute’s 2014 Fall Conference will include a presentation from RBC Capital markets managing director Joshua Rosenbaum.

The event will take place Oct. 16 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois.

Rosenbaum, a frequent and popular presenter at HIRI conferences, will address: “The Economy, Wall Street and Deal-Making: Implications for Home Improvement.”

The Home Improvement Research Institute announced the hiring of Pam Heidel as research analyst based in HIRI’s Tampa office. 

Heidel is a former president of the board of the non-profit HIRI. Also, from 2007 to 2014, she was employed by Generac Power Systems, most recently as marketing director – digital and consumer insights. 

Heidel also worked as marketing planning manager for Broan-NuTone from 2000 through 2007.

The Home Improvement Research Institute’s 2014 Spring Conference, slated for Orlando April 10, will include a full slate of research-oriented presentations. 

Among them will be a presentation from The Futures Company’s Sarah Catlett, VP and HIRI account director, and Christina Hioros, VP and associate head of Global Monitor. Their topic: Not just another United States: Distinguishing consumer attitudes in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The Home Improvement Research Institute elected new officers during the group’s quarterly board meeting Tuesday.

Dennis Neumann, manager marketing analysis at Andersen Windows, was elected as HIRI president. Russ Ellis, VP at the Reader’s Digest Association, was elected VP. Rounding out the list of officers, Shawna Martin, market research manager for Masco Corp., was elected secretary.

The Home Improvement Research Institute (HIRI) has announced its upcoming 2013 HIRI Fall Conference, with this year's theme set to focus on "Changing Home Improvement Attitudes & Behaviors."

Speakers will include Lisa Marquis Jackson, senior VP of John Burns Real Estate Consulting, who will deliver a session on “Clarity on the Housing Recovery.”

She will share insight on the fundamental drivers affecting both new construction and remodeling segments of the housing industry.

Speakers will discuss topics such as forward-looking consumer behaviors, economic trends and the home improvement market, targeting various demographics, the impact of Durables on the home improvement landscape, future housing demand, as well as changing attitudes toward the home and price-driven shopping behavior.

HIRI is a membership based, independent, not-for-profit organization of manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and allied organizations in the home improvement industry. HIRI ended 2012 with 77 members.
