The Toro Company declared that it was well on its way to meeting its previously stated 2014 goals upon the release of its third-quarter earnings report Thursday.

Sales for the quarter were up 11.3% year-over-year to what Toro referred to as a "record $567.5 million," riding a wave of strong retail demand across its various segments.

Net earnings of $50.0 million were also up in comparison to last year's $40.1 million.

On Thursday, July 10, The Toro Company looked back on a century's worth of farm and ranch innovations during its 100th annivesary celebration.

More than 2,000 employees, retirees, partners and guests came to the company headquarters in Bloomington, Minnesota, including Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and Bloomington Mayor Gene Winstead.

Further cementing what is now a long-standing tradition with roots dating back to 1922, The Toro Company has renewed its commitment to Pinehurst Resort of Pinehurst, North Carolina, for an additional 10 years.

The decade-long agreement prolongs Toro's role as the preferred supplier of golf course maintenance equipment and irrigation solutions to Pinehurst.

The Toro Company made solid progress in the second fiscal quarter of 2014, with net sales up 5.8% and earnings pushing ahead 11.1%.

Total sales for the three-month period ended May 2, 2014 were $745.0 million, up from $704.5 million a year ago. Sales for the six-month period were also up 3.6%.

Meanwhile, net earnings came in at $87.1 million for the quarter, compared to $78.4 million in 2013.

The Toro Company has added six underground equipment dealers, with a total of 10 new locations,to its distribution network in North America. In total, Toro has added 24 underground equipment dealers to its network.

The first fiscal quarter of 2014 proved relatively constructive for The Toro Co.'s sales, but the equipment manufacturer backtracked in terms of net earnings.

Toro reported net sales of about $446 million for the three months ended Jan. 31, a 0.29% increase from the same period last year. 

Meanwhile, net earnings weighed in at $25.9 million, down from $31.4 million in the first quarter of 2013.

In honor of its year-long centennial celebration, The Toro Company has launched its Legacy Grant Program and Annual Product Donation Program.

The Legacy Grant Program will help fund the efforts of non-profit organizations to enhance and preserve green spaces, as well as organizations that take an active stance in educating the public in water conservation strategies.

Visalia, Calif.-based Shannon Ranch Elementary School has won the top prize of $7,000 in the Toro Company's 'Ready. Set. GROW!' grant program.

Nominations for the contest were submitted in September, after which a panel of judges selected four finalists, who were then asked to submit a video detailing their mission. Toro left it up to the public to vote for the winning finalist in November.

The Toro Co. reported net earnings of $154.8 million, up from net earnings of $129.5 million in fiscal 2012. Net sales increased 4.2% to $2,041.4 million for its fiscal year ended Oct. 31, from net sales of $1,958.7 million in 2012.

For the fourth quarter, Toro reported net earnings of $5 million, compared with earnings of $0.3 million in the year-ago period. Net sales for the quarter increased 12.7% to $382.4 million from net sales of $339.3 million in the fourth quarter last year.

The Toro Company's PrecisionSense site assessment system received high marks for innovation at the 2013 Tekne Awards, held by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Nov. 6.

The company took home the 2013 Tekne Award for Agricultural Technology thanks to its use of mobile soil sensing and data collection technology to measure soil moisture, salinity, compaction, plant performance and more -- all aimed at utilizing water and resources more efficiently.

The Toro Company has completed its acquisition of Xiamen Xiangfeng Water Saving Equipment Co., Ltd., a Xiamen City-based irrigation products manufacturer.

The strategic move seeks to strengthen Toro's position in China, which is a major growth market for micro irrigation. The company also recently built a micro irrigation manufacturing facility in Romania.

In light of the growing popularity of alternative energy sources, The Toro Company is offering fuel guidance to homeowners and contractors for outdoor power equipment, recommending an ethanol/gasoline blend no higher than E10 (10% ethanol).

Generally, the company confirmed that Toro lawn mowers and snowblowers were approved for said blends and are not designed to run on fuel containing more than 10% ethanol. Toro cautioned that use of E15, E20 or E85 could affect performance or damage the engine.

Lifted by more favorable weather patterns, Bloomington, Minn.-based The Toro Co. reported strong sales in its residential division. 

Residential segment net sales for the third quarter totaled $155.5 million, up 14.4% from the prior-year period. Favorable temperatures and precipitation levels in the quarter led to sales increases across all summer product categories, including riding products, walk power mowers and handheld trimmer and blower products.

Bloomington, Minn.-based The Toro Co. reported record highs in sales and earnings for the second quarter, despite a double-digit sales decline in the residential division.

The company posted net earnings of $78.4 million, on a net sales increase of 1.9%, to $704.5 million for its fiscal second quarter ended May 3. 

In the comparable fiscal 2012 period, the company delivered net earnings of $68.8 million on net sales of $691.5 million.

The Toro Co. will be introducing several new Tier 4 compliant Reelmaster and Groundsmaster mowers beginning in 2013 that incorporate more sophisticated electronic controls, as well as new engines, exhaust systems and after-treatment technology.

Bloomington, Minn.-based The Toro Co. reported net earnings of $129.5 million for the full year ended Oct. 31, up from earnings of $117.7 million in 2011. 

Net sales increased 4% to $1.96 billion for its fiscal year. 

For the fourth quarter, Toro reported net earnings of $0.3 million, down from $5 million in the fourth quarter of 2011. Net sales decreased 7.8% to $339.3 million in the quarter.

The Toro Co. signed a three-year installment financing services agreement with Clemmons, N.C.-based Sheffield Financial.

The Toro Company supports a variety of customer financing options and has agreed to endorse Sheffield as an exclusive provider of installment financing programs for its Toro and Exmark residential and contractor brands of outdoor power equipment sold by Toro and Exmark dealers throughout the United States.

The Toro Co. has announced a partnership with Yanmar America Corp. Yanmar will provide diesel engines for select Toro commercial turf maintenance equipment. The Yanmar diesel engines will allow Toro to comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Tier 4 emissions regulations, which go into effect Jan. 1, 2013.

The first Toro products to feature Yanmar's Tier 4 compliant diesel engine technology will be select commercial mowers over 25 horsepower.

The Toro Co. has partnered with Ryan Cos. to build a 450,000-sq.-ft. distribution center near Des Moines, Iowa. Toro will lease the facility from Ryan once construction is completed later this year. Toro will then transition distribution operations from its current facilities in Lakeville, Minn., and Beatrice, Neb., to the Des Moines facility.
