The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) officially issued the trademark for a variety of Menards lawn and garden products.

The Eau Claire, Wis.-based home center retailer filed its application Aug. 2, 2011, and was officially given the trademark March 20.

The yard and lawn applications include lawn mowers, mechanical spreaders for seed and dry lawn chemicals, and mechanical lawn aerators. The brand also applies to power tools such as blowers, edgers, lawn trimmers and hedge shears.

Ace Hardware Corp. officially received the trademark for Clark+Kensington, its new line of paint-and-primer in one.

The trademark application was filed April 26 and was registered Jan. 10 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, according to US Fed News.

Ace Hardware launched Clark+Kensington paint last year and has seen it surpass its goals of member penetration, available in more than 2,700 member stores at the end of 2011. The co-op is engaged in a five-year plan to grab 8% of the DIY paint market.

Nexxus Lighting Inc. has obtained two U.S. patents on Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology, the company has announced.

US Patent Number 7,974,099 represents the company's Selective Heat Sink (SHS) process around which it has designed its Array LED replacement lamps and bulbs.

US Patent Number 7,960,921 allows the LED light source to sense ambient thermal changes and adjust current levels and light output to maintain proper thermal performance of the product.
