Williams-Sonoma reported net revenues increased to $1.5 billion in the fourth quarter ended Feb. 2 from $1.4 billion in the prior-year quarter. This year’s fourth quarter had just 13 weeks compared with last year’s fourth quarter, which had 14; excluding the additional week in the prior-year quarter, net revenues grew 10%.

Net earnings totaled $133.8 million, up from $133.7 million in the prior-year fourth quarter.

Williams-Sonoma has appointed Janet Hayes, currently the president of Pottery Barn Kids and PBteen, as president, effective March 20. She replaces Richard Harvey, who will be leaving the company on May 3, 2013, after 30 years of service.

For the quarter ended July 29, Williams-Sonoma earned $43.4 million, up from $39.3 million in the same period last year.

Fourth-quarter sales increased 6.1% to $1.268 billion, compared with $1.195 billion in the same quarter last year.

Net income of $122.6 million for the quarter was up 8.1% from $113.4 million.

As a former store owner, avid consumer and general retail junkie, I really get excited when I walk through a store and find myself thinking “WOW! Look at THIS.” More than once, when really excited, the “Wow!” in my head has extended to my mouth, occasionally to my embarrassment, but more often to either agreement from my fellow shoppers or the appreciation from nearby employees.

Williams-Sonoma announced that net revenues for the fourth quarter of 2010 increased 9.7% to $1.2 billion from $1.09 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009, including Internet net revenue growth of 27.2% and a comparable-store sales increase of 5.2%.

Williams-Sonoma reported that net revenues for the 2010 fiscal year increased 12.9% to $3.5 billion from $3.1 billion in 2009, including Internet net revenue growth of 26.9% and a comparable-store sales increase of 9.8%.
